Christian van Eijkelenburg

Christian van Eijkelenburg has received critical acclaim and a nomination for the Neerlands Hoop award. Critics and audiences praise his distinctive style: the Theaterkrant called him "a great talent for absurdism", the Dutch cabaret jury "a highly original and relevant creator".

With his new show Small Talk, directed by Maike Meijer (Toren C), he takes the stage with a projector full of visuals and a soundboard full of electronic sounds. The performance is an absurdist cabaret show about the sense - and especially the nonsense - of everyday conversation. Eight billion people hurl their words into the world every day: to each other, about each other, past each other. Christian gives this multitude of voices a platform and tries to bring order to the endless overkill. But where do you start? And how hypocritical is it that he now takes the floor himself?

Expect awkward conversations, selfish failures, embarrassing silences, theatrical know-it-alls and crazy thought spirals. Painfully relatable and hilarious.
