Every second Sunday of the month, a musician takes children on a musical discovery journey at Splendor in Amsterdam. Not a concert where you have to sit still, but a relaxed gathering with real instruments, short musical pieces and the stories behind them. Children sit on cushions, blankets and chairs, right next to the musicians - you rarely get this close.

Each edition features different instruments: wind instruments, string instruments, percussion, plucked instruments and instruments from all over the world. There is also a joint musical game where children, parents and grandparents participate. After the concert there is half an hour to ask questions, meet the musicians and touch the instruments or try them out yourself.

The programme (series of 8 children's concerts):

13 September - Iris presents trombonist Brandt, trumpeter Christian, drummer Felix, pianist Meika and Antonii on the harpsichord. Antonii also plays his own composition. Brandt tells how children can compose their own music for the New Year's concert on 1 January on TV.

11 October - Nora meets together with the children Michiel on the cimbalom, Peter on percussion and Vera on bassoon. Vera also shows a special children's bassoon.

8 November - Iris presents Sarah with a whole family of recorders, Dave on tuba and Peter on percussion.

13 December - The children get to know Emine and the kemence, a traditional string instrument. Possibly a viola quartet or a flutist will join.

Practical information:
- Hall opens: 10:30 (on 13 December: 14:30)
- Concert: 11:00 - 11:30 (on 13 December: 15:00 - 15:30)
- Discover instruments and meet musicians: 11:30 - 12:00 (on 13 December: 15:30 - 16:00)
- Children from 4 years old free admission (maximum three children per paying adult)
- Parents, carers and grandparents welcome
- Children can also be in the hall on their own while you wait in the Splendor bar
