Music Lessons for Young Children

On Wednesday afternoons, Splendor musician Iris Oltheten teaches music to children aged 3.5 to 6 years at the Splendor loft on Nieuwe Uilenburgerstraat 116 in Amsterdam. Children who are confident enough to attend independently are welcome from age 3.5.

The method is called creative music making: children are encouraged in a playful way to make, compose and perform their own music. Many songs are sung together. Occasionally the children listen along when the professional ensembles rehearsing in the Splendor building play.

The course runs from 23 September 2026 and consists of 9 lessons on Wednesday afternoons from 16:00 to 16:45. Lesson dates are: 23 and 30 September, 7, 21 and 28 October, and 4, 11, 18 and 25 November (no lesson during the autumn half-term). At 16:45, (grand)parents are welcome to come upstairs and hear what has been created.
