Autobiography of Light
An evening centred on the book The Autobiography of Light - a recent work by Dorian Matei exploring consciousness, perception, and the ways we experience the world around us. This is not a lecture or conventional book presentation, but an encounter between words, sound, silence, and the people present in the space.
Four musicians and artists explore the landscape of the book through spontaneous composition and improvisation: clarinetist, Golden Calf award-winner and improviser Alex Simu; pianist and researcher Folkert Oosting; double bassist Lucas Dols; and drummer, composer and educator Felix Schlarmann. What they play emerges in the moment, in interaction with the space and everyone in it. The audience's attention, the silence, and even the smallest shift in concentration can become part of what is heard.
Between the music there is space for conversation - questions, reflection and collective exploration of the ideas from The Autobiography of Light, together with Dorian and the musicians.
