Momentum III

Momentum returns to De Helling in Utrecht for its third edition: a goth, wave and post-punk festival featuring acts from the global dark underground. The line-up includes Potochkine, Vioflesh, Silent Runners, Dear Omen and DARKER, complemented by DJ sets from CO2, -X-X-X- vs RVR and SPUD.

POTOCHKINE
Potochkine is the French spelling of the Russian Potemkin - the statesman and the famous battleship. The name fits: this duo from the French port town of Toulon sounds as relentless and industrial as an armoured cruiser, yet carries the theatrical allure of a chanson. Their music moves between EBM, coldwave and performance art - pure noir romanticism, or as they might say: authentic dark romance.

VIOFLESH
Darkwave from Latin America is rarer than you'd think, but Vioflesh from Santiago de Chile ranks among the most promising acts in the genre. The duo - vocalist Vio and producer Flesh - combines synthpop, coldwave and electronics into a bittersweet mix of melancholy and rage.

SILENT RUNNERS
The name gives little hint of what happens on stage. The Amsterdam-based Silent Runners blend echoing old-school synthwave with brooding post-punk and driving krautrock, and have been known for explosive live shows for a decade.

DEAR OMEN
Dear Omen is currently shaking up the Dutch dark underground. The Amsterdam band combines haunted-house synths, reverb-drenched vocals and flickering candles with performances at Into The Great Wide Open and ESNS, continuing their rise at Momentum.

DARKER
The Tilburg new-wave band DARKER works in the vein of White Lies, Editors and Ist Ist - but a shade darker. With catchy choruses and four LED screens full of visuals, they close the evening.
