Description was written before the event

BaBa ZuLa performs original compositions with so much improvisation that no two shows are ever the same. The Istanbul-based band - founded in 1996 - blends shamanic roots with contemporary Istanbul, using the electric saz and wooden spoons among other instruments.

On stage they combine music, poetry, dance and theatre, enhanced by hypnotic rhythms and colourful costumes.

About: BaBa ZuLa

Thirty years after forming in Istanbul, BaBa ZuLa remain a restless force: Anatolian psychedelia, dub and electronics collide in shows that are never the same twice, driven by Murat Ertel's electric saz and Levent Akman's rhythmic machines.
