Zie de Schie

On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, Zie de Schie opens its doors during the Open Monuments Days. From the water, historic buildings and hidden spots, you'll discover Schiedam in a new way.

The programme centres on the Schie: artists perform during a boat tour, a historic barge is pulled by a horse, and guides share stories of lost city history or take you on an architecture tour. The focal point is the Zie de Schie square in front of the Havenkerk, where visitors, artists, guides and volunteers meet and live music plays.

For children there is a water lab where they can draw water creatures and learn what is needed for clean water. There are also VR headsets with historical images of the city, guided by a storyteller in a special building.
