Temples: EU Bliss tour

Temples broke through in 2012 on the wave of neo-psychedelic bands that dominated the charts and festival circuit at the time. On 'Shelter Song' and debut album 'Sun Structures', the band drew from the nostalgic melodies and hypnotic, non-Western grooves of the 1960s. Their subsequent records broadened the palette: 'Volcano' (2015) brought layered synth work, 'Hot Motion' (2019) a 1970s reinvention, and 'Exotico' (2023) utopian productions with creative input from Sean Lennon.

For their fifth studio album 'BLISS', the quartet sought inspiration in 1990s dance music. The band describes the influence themselves: "There's something special about certain songs from the golden era of Ibiza dance music, it's euphoric but also tinged with melancholy. The feeling of these songs heavily inspired Vendetta, although we didn't want to go fully down the pastiche route. The production of this song really sums up the record for me, with use of self sampling and creating unusual texture combinations whilst having a strong melodic core. I have always loved songs that are instantly recognisable from the first bar and Vendetta is not shy at pulling you in from the first beat."

On Tuesday 3 November, Temples plays at Melkweg in Amsterdam.
