ORIGINAL WORK IN PROGRESS: The Astoria / Midnight Motel

Rockcafé Taste presents ORIGINAL WORK IN PROGRESS, a series that gives bands with original material a platform six times a year - no cover bands, no standard commercial programming, but original music from new and established artists. This happens in collaboration with the Alliantie Muziekcafés quality mark (www.alliantiemuziekcafes.net).

The Astoria comes from Eindhoven and consists of experienced musicians from Jabberwocky and Dirty Denims. They play high-energy rock 'n' roll inspired by bands like The Stooges, MC5, Rolling Stones, Small Faces and The Sonics: rough uptempo numbers with catchy choruses, guitar solos and the occasional tinkling organ. On 31 January they released their debut album - also on vinyl.

Midnight Motel has played at Taste before. The band was founded in 2009 and has two studio albums to their name: "Taste of Life" (2013) and "Adrenaline Junkies" (2020). In 2022 they recorded two new singles in Antwerp: "Narcotic Blues" and "Wasted Time". Music blog 3voor12 described their sound as "sex on guitars".

Tickets are available in advance for € 10 (excl. service charges, incl. VAT and Buma/Stemra fees). At the door a ticket costs € 12.50, while stocks last.
