Meesterlijk Metaal XXXVI

On Friday, 25 September 2026, Poppodium de Meester hosts the 36th edition of Meesterlijk Metaal. The evening celebrates old school heavy metal with a line-up rooted in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM).

Spartan Warrior from Sunderland is a cult name within the NWOBHM. Their 1984 album Steel n' Chains is considered a milestone in the genre; after a long hiatus, they reunited and now perform regularly on European stages. Toranaga UK also emerged from the NWOBHM but evolved towards thrash metal, building a reputation in the late 1980s with albums like Bastard Songs and God's Gift. They return with new material and classics.

Dutch band Wildeboer completes the line-up. The group consists of seasoned musicians who draw on traditional heavy metal, channelling the genre's glory days with powerful riffs and compelling solos.
