Jasper Høiby's 3Elements

This concert celebrates the third album of bassist Jasper Høiby's 3Elements project, released on Edition Records. With each album, Høiby assembles a new lineup: on Earthness he played with drummer Luca Cruso and pianist Moah Stoneman, on Like Water with Jamie Pete on drums and Chaerin Im on piano. He concludes the trilogy with Conversations of Hope, recorded with Spanish pianist Xavi Torres and drummer Naíma Acuña - daughter of Weather Report drummer Alex Acuña.

Dynamics lie at the heart of this trio. Like Phronesis, the band that first brought Høiby recognition, the bass takes on a leading, melodic role rather than a purely accompanying one. Conversations of Hope is marked by rapid shifts, clear melodic ideas, changing time signatures and a keen sense of space.
