Jasper Høiby's 3Elements

Dieses Konzert würdigt das dritte Album von Bassist Jasper Høibys 3Elements-Projekt, veröffentlicht auf Edition Records. Mit jedem Album stellt Høiby eine neue Besetzung zusammen: auf Earthness spielte er mit Schlagzeuger Luca Cruso und Pianist Moah Stoneman, auf Like Water mit Jamie Pete am Schlagzeug und Chaerin Im am Klavier. Die Trilogie schließt er mit Conversations of Hope ab, aufgenommen mit dem spanischen Pianisten Xavi Torres und Schlagzeugerin Naíma Acuña - Tochter des Weather-Report-Schlagzeugers Alex Acuña.

Dynamik steht im Zentrum dieses Trios. Wie bei Phronesis, der Band, die Høiby zunächst bekannt machte, übernimmt der Bass eine führende, melodische Rolle statt einer rein begleitenden. Conversations of Hope zeichnet sich durch schnelle Wechsel, klare melodische Ideen, wechselnde Taktarten und ein feines Gespür für Raum aus.
