Banned From Utopia is a supergroup of musicians who previously played in Frank Zappa's backing band The Mothers of Invention and other collaborations with Zappa. The band formed in the 1990s after Zappa's death in 1993, and the name references his album The Man From Utopia.

On stage: Ray White (Frank Zappa, 1976-1984: vocals & guitar), Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa, 1988: keyboards, guitar & vocals), Jamie Kime (Zappa Plays Zappa, 2007-2012: guitar), Scott Thunes (Frank Zappa, 1981-1988: bass) and Chad Wackerman (Frank Zappa, 1981-1988: drums).

The repertoire consists of classic Zappa numbers, performed with the technical precision, humor and improvisation that were characteristic of Zappa himself.

Mike Keneally is an American guitarist, keyboardist and composer who first came to wider attention as a member of Frank Zappa's touring band in the late 1980s. He has since collaborated closely with Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Devin Townsend, while his solo work blends progressive rock with jazz influences and a sharp sense of humor.

Scott Thunes is an American bassist who played with Frank Zappa from 1981 to 1988, becoming one of the most trusted figures in Zappa's band. Known for his technical command and idiosyncratic style, he went on to perform with Banned From Utopia, the supergroup of former Zappa musicians formed after Zappa's death in 1993.
