Tyn Wybenga's Brainteaser Orchestra

Composer and bandleader Tyn Wybenga moves between jazz, composed music, pop and electronics. During performances, he samples solos from his thirteen-piece all-star ensemble live and transforms them into adventurous sound sculptures. With his debut album Brainteaser, he won the German Jazz Prize for 'Best International Debut Album' and performed at festivals including North Sea Jazz, JazzAhead and Jazz sous les Pommiers. In 2024, he received a composition commission from North Sea Jazz and performed with the Metropole Orkest and vocalist Lizz Wright.

Now there is new music, with which the orchestra once again presents a mix of live electronics, grooves and improvisation. His work has been described as a fusion of Frank Zappa, Miles Davis and J Dilla with a contemporary European twist.
