Heerenhuyskamerconcert - Herak / Bulatkin Quartet
Heerenhuys, Dudok in het Park, Rotterdam
Czech-Slovak vibraphonist Miro Herak and Czech pianist Daniel Bulatkin perform their joint project 'Elysium', accompanied by Johannes Fend on double bass and Martin Hafizi on drums.
The quartet's music draws from the Central European background of both bandleaders: Slavic and Gypsy folk, impressionistic classical music, and Balkan rhythms interweave throughout. Compositions by Herak and Bulatkin combine broad soundscapes with distinctive melodies, with the vibraphon's sound and Fend's extended bass techniques playing a prominent role.
The ensemble has toured across the United Kingdom, Europe, China, and Taiwan, from major jazz festivals to intimate venues.
This concert is part of the Heerenhuyskamerconcerten series, part of the Park's programming in Rotterdam. The full schedule with workshops, walks, poetry, and more can be found on the Park's website.
