Britt for President - De Warme Winkel

Britt throws herself headlong into politics, unburdened by administrative knowledge, unbound by party discipline, and completely free from old-fashioned moral principles. Can't things simply be better? Can't we stop mindlessly drifting along with every geopolitical current?

The performance begins locally - in the cradle of democracy, where grand electoral rhetoric crumbles against reality and part-time political talents try to squeeze the last drop of idealism from the can. Meanwhile, divisions deepen, bubbles strengthen, and democracy itself comes under pressure from disruptive forces that ignore the rules of the game.

With this discursive tirade, De Warme Winkel explores whether, and how, you can still speak with your fact-free fellow citizen - when arguments no longer matter and science is just another opinion. The title role is played by Britt Hartog, who previously appeared with De Warme Winkel in "An Honest Ode to Irony". The text is by Vincent Rietveld, who previously created, among other works, a trilogy about overpopulation, the performance "Myrte Siebinga Seeks a Room", and, together with Princess Isatu Hassan Bangura, "A Beauteous Evening, Calm and Free".
