Jan van Houwelingen & Raoel Fatehmahomed
Het Klooster Oude Noorden, Rotterdam
Jan van Houwelingen is an unconventional performer. Raised in the north of the Netherlands - which, as everyone knows, starts above Amersfoort - he moved to Flanders for love. From that base, his passion for cabaret regularly draws him back to the Netherlands, armed with a big dream and a small ukulele. While many cabaret artists tread well-worn paths, Jan deliberately chooses originality - old-fashioned originality perhaps, but unmistakably innovative.
Raoel Fatehmahomed was far from the most eloquent boy in his primary and secondary school classes. A career as an accountant or spell-checker seemed his fate, but the opposite proved true. As he worked and studied harder, more and more people discovered his sense of humour. At the International Comedy Festival Rotterdam in 2015, he was introduced to the wider public as a comedy talent, and since then Fatehmahomed - of Indo-Surinamese descent - has been making his mark.
