IFFR Filmclub

In the heart of autumn - known in Arabic as 'the season of reflection' - IFFR Filmclub brings two distinct yet related films together around a shared theme. We watch the films with an open mind, without preconceptions. Afterwards, we travel in an honest conversation back to our younger selves and forward to our older selves. How can two generations learn from each other's experiences, beyond language? What can the way we care for our body, heart and mind teach the other generation?

Winged ~ Abel van Essen
Adelio feels lonely and misunderstood. When he meets Ravi, he learns to appreciate the beauty of life. With new courage, he approaches Una - but then Ravi disappears without a trace. A deep relapse looms, but Adelio chooses movement. Together with Una, he embarks on a new adventure.

What Matters ~ Ange Wieberdink & Jet Homoet
A group of people in their seventies gather in the French countryside in summer to paint or sculpt - something they have been doing for 25 years. Their hobby connects them and helps them stay active and creative.

Filmclub is an initiative of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and brings film lovers, aspiring filmmakers and creatives together at various locations in the city to watch films and exchange interests. At Dokhuis, the focus is on films by Rotterdam filmmakers or with a Rotterdam flavour.
