Electronic music from Weval at the Haarlem Vinyl Festival 2026 in Patronaat.
Weval is the Amsterdam-based electronic duo of Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers, who launched their first EP on the German label Kompakt in 2013. Their music sits between deep house, atmospheric pop and indietronica, built on layered synthesizers and melodic vocals. After three albums via Kompakt and Ninja Tune imprint Technicolour - earning an Edison Award for Best Dance Album with their 2016 debut - they became regulars at festivals including Lowlands, Primavera Sound and DGTL Amsterdam. Their fourth album CHOROPHOBIA (2025) marks a deliberate shift towards club-oriented sounds and higher BPMs.
CHOROPHOBIA was nominated in December 2025 for the 3voor12 Award, the prize for the best Dutch album of the year.
The fourth studio album CHOROPHOBIA was released on 5 September 2025 via Ninja Tune sublabel Technicolour, with a deliberate shift towards club music and higher BPMs.
Weval announced CHOROPHOBIA and revealed that they would tour Europe in the summer of 2025 as support for Rüfüs du Sol.
The album Remember (2023) received an Edison nomination in January 2024 in the Dance category.
Weval released the EP Night Versions in 2024, a club-oriented reworking of tracks from the album Remember.
