Trold is a Danish folk metal band from Randers, founded in 2019 and signed to Mighty Music. They build their sound on a melodic death metal foundation, layering folk instruments and storytelling drawn from fairy tales and Norse mythology - setting them apart from black metal-leaning peers in the genre. Members have backgrounds in bands including Sylvatica, Kurgan and Dawn of Demise. Their second album 'I Skovens Rige' (2025) and a live record captured at Copenhell festival mark their continued rise on the European folk metal circuit.
Trold released the live album 'Til Gilde Under Ulven (Live At Copenhell '25)' on December 19, 2025 via Mighty Music, in limited edition as a double LP and digipack CD.
Trold performed at the Copenhell festival in Copenhagen on the Hades stage and recorded that show for the later live album.
The second studio album 'I Skovens Rige' was released on March 14, 2025 via Mighty Music, featuring guest appearances from actor Lars Thiesgaard and violinist Laura Emilie Beck, among others.
Folk-metal.nl announced 'I Skovens Rige' as the second chapter in Trold's adventure, with twelve tracks all revolving around the theme 'the forest'.
The debut album 'Der Var Engang…' was released on May 26, 2023 via Mighty Music and was praised by reviewers for the mix of melodic death metal and folk.
