Toontje Lager is a Dutch-language pop band founded in Wageningen in 1977, best known for the early-1980s hits 'Net als in de film', 'Zoveel te doen' and 'Stiekem gedanst'. Their albums 'Er op of er onder' (1982) and 'Stiekem dansen' (1983) both went gold, and in 1984 the band received the Veronica Award for most popular Dutch-language act. After splitting up in 1985, singer Erik Mesie revived the name with a new lineup; in 2023 the band released the album 'Waar gaan we heen', featuring fifteen new songs.
Toontje Lager is scheduled in 2026 for a performance at Podium Victorie in Alkmaar, in a renewed lineup with Erik Mesie as frontman.
