Theocracy is an American Christian progressive power metal band from Athens, Georgia, founded in 2002 by guitarist and vocalist Matt Smith - originally as a one-man project. Known for epic melodies, heavy riffs and layered vocal harmonies, they draw frequent comparisons to European acts like Stratovarius and Symphony X. Their fifth studio album Mosaic (2023), released through Atomic Fire Records, has been widely praised as their most ambitious work to date.
Theocracy released their fifth studio album Mosaic on October 13, 2023 via Atomic Fire Records, seven years after their previous album Ghost Ship.
The band signed a contract with Atomic Fire Records in August 2023 and announced the single 'Return to Dust' at the same time.
Theocracy performed in April 2025 at EPIC FEST - Chapter 3 in Roskilde, Denmark.
