Theatre of Hate are a British post-punk band founded in London in 1980 by singer-guitarist Kirk Brandon. Blending punk energy with gothic rock and a distinctive saxophone sound, they built a formidable live reputation before releasing their debut studio album 'Westworld' (1982), produced by Mick Jones of The Clash, which peaked at No. 17 on the UK Albums Chart and held the top spot on the indie chart for 21 weeks. After reunions in the 2010s, the band released the studio album 'A Thing of Beauty' in 2021, crowd-funded by their fanbase.
Theatre of Hate played nine shows in 2026 as part of the 'A Darker Spring Tour'.
The band celebrated its 45th anniversary with the '80:25' anniversary tour, where 'Westworld' was performed live in full for the first time.
The anniversary tour was announced with Skeletal Family as support act for seven British shows in October and November 2025.
