The Homesick
The Homesick takes the stage at Cinetol. An evening with the band on 8 October.
The Homesick are a post-punk trio from Dokkum, in the north of the Netherlands, formed in 2012 by Elias Elgersma, Jaap van der Velde and Erik Woudwijk. Each of their albums marks a deliberate stylistic shift - from the baroque post-punk of Sub Pop debut The Big Exercise (2020) to the synth-driven self-titled record of 2023. Drawing on Yellow Magic Orchestra, XTC and Scott Walker, they have built a reputation as one of the Netherlands' most restlessly inventive alternative acts.
The Homesick signed with the Viennese independent label Siluh Records and released the new single 'Esperanto'.
Stereogum described 'Esperanto' as a new wave-like track with rubber synths and bouncy vocals, comparable to Devo.
The Homesick's self-titled third album was released on 8 September 2023, recorded in Waimes, Amsterdam and Groningen.
