About

StAD is an eight-piece band from Pekela in the east of Groningen province, who made their mark around the turn of the millennium as one of the first acts to combine alternative pop with lyrics in the Gronings dialect. Their debut album 'Doarom zing ik' (2001) and the regional radio hit 'Knikkers' earned them stages at Eurosonic, Noorderzon and VERA. After more than two decades of silence they returned, releasing their long-awaited second album 'Mooi bie huus blieven' in 2026 via crowdfunding. RTV Noord has called them a 'cult band'.
