Society of the Silver Cross is a Seattle darkfolk duo formed by songwriters Joe Reineke and Karyn Gold-Reineke. Their sound draws on harmonium, shahi baaja, 12-string guitar and esoteric synthesizers, sitting at the crossroads of neofolk and cinematic gothic with deep roots in Indian musical tradition. Joe Reineke previously fronted alternative rock bands The Meices and Alien Crime Syndicate; together the pair also run Seattle recording studios Orbit Audio and Temple of the Trees. The band's name came to them during a visit to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
The duo announced via social media that they were working on new recording sessions in their studio Temple of the Trees.
