Maarten Hogenhuis' BLOOM
Jazz saxophonist Maarten Hogenhuis presents BLOOM, a residency concert blending jazz, ambient and groove with drummer Simon Segers and vocalist Nana Adjoa.
Simon Segers is a Belgian drummer who trained at the Conservatory of Ghent. He is a central figure in the Belgian jazz scene as a member of De Beren Gieren and Black Flower, two bands that blend jazz with psychedelic, electronic and world music influences. Segers also collaborates closely with producer Dijf Sanders and plays in projects such as SPOOK and Stadt, continually pushing at the boundaries between jazz, rock and improvisation.
De Beren Gieren released the album Fuzzy Bears on March 20, 2026 via Marcel Records, on which all three band members jointly collected electronic sounds for the first time.
Dijf Sanders & Segers released the album Tangkoa II on May 8, 2026 via Unday Records, with Segers taking on production alongside his role as drummer.
On January 30, 2026, the single 'Mooning' appeared as a preview of Tangkoa II, with Segers as the rhythmic pivot between Vietnamese field recordings and live electronics.
De Beren Gieren released the album What Eludes Us on March 29, 2024 via Sdban Ultra, recorded in Bergen (Norway) with producer Jørgen Træen (Jaga Jazzist).
In March 2022, Segers' trio SPOOK released its debut album via KAAP/W.E.R.F., a collaboration with double bassist Nicolas Rombouts and pedal steel guitarist Filip Wauters.
