About

Plus Instruments is the long-running project of Eindhoven-born Truus de Groot, a pioneer of the Dutch experimental underground. Founded in 1978 - initially as a solo venture, later with a rotating cast of collaborators - it moved from the Dutch post-punk explosion to New York's No Wave scene, where De Groot recorded the cult classic 'Februari-April '81' with Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth) and drummer David Linton. Her mentor Michel Waisvisz introduced her to the crackle synthesizer, which has remained central to her sound. In 2026 she released her ninth album as Plus Instruments, 'Unnoticed', on Ransom Note.
