Paul Bearer is the vocalist of New York hardcore band Sheer Terror, which he co-founded in 1984. Known for a thunderous voice and bluntly sardonic lyrics that take aim at politicians, religion and the music industry alike, he helped shape what would later become beatdown and metalcore. The band's 1990 debut Just Can't Hate Enough is widely regarded as a landmark of heavy hardcore, and Sheer Terror has remained active - with a gap between 1998 and 2010 - ever since.
