MEROL
Dutch artist MEROL takes the stage at Doornroosje Poppodium in Nijmegen for an intimate pop concert.
MEROL is the stage name of Merel Baldé (born 1991 in Dordrecht), a Dutch singer-songwriter and actress who broke through in 2018 with the viral synthpop single 'Lekker met de meiden'. Running her own label Ammehoela Records, she is known for candid, feminist lyrics that tackle taboos around sex and the body head-on. Her debut album Troostprijs (2022) reached the top ten in both the Netherlands and Flanders.
MEROL released her third album Leve de Feeks on May 1, 2026, an electropunk record recorded with Flemish producer Jeroen De Pessemier (The Subs, Oscar and the Wolf).
In February 2026, MEROL announced an autumn tour through the Netherlands and Belgium in support of Leve de Feeks, with shows in Groningen, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Amsterdam (Paradiso, November 14), among others.
With Leve de Feeks, MEROL deliberately chooses a rawer sound towards electropunk, inspired by artists such as Peaches, Amyl and the Sniffers and Björk.
In October 2024, her second album Naar de haaien & weer terug was released, on which she returned to a more idiosyncratic, DIY sound.
In July 2024, MEROL performed on the main stage of Best Kept Secret, where she started her set with an a-cappella version of 'Hou je bek en bef me'.
