Martin Sillen
Martin Sillen is a Maastricht quartet playing alternative indie rock with multi-part vocals and dynamic guitar work. They present their debut album with songs about love, doubt and personal growth.
Martin Sillen is an alternative indie rock band from Maastricht, Netherlands, formed around a fictional character conceived by singer-guitarist Jop Ostendorf as a writing perspective for songs about love, doubt and breaking old habits. The four-piece - completed by lead guitarist Erik Steegh, bassist Luc van den Brink and drummer Dinand Claessens - started out in 2018 under the name OOST, reaching the final of the Nu of Nooit talent contest. Since then they have released three EPs, earned airplay on national radio station 3FM and received nominations at the 2023 Limburgse Popprijs.
Martin Sillen released the new single 'A Long Way Home' on 20 March 2025, produced by Ingo Jetten at Moon Studio; 3voor12 compared the sound to the earlier work of Di-rect.
The single 'I Can't Leave It' appeared on 3 May 2024 and was accompanied by a video clip recorded in the studio.
The band performed at various venues in 2024, including the Bevrijdingsfestival Roermond.
Martin Sillen presented their third, self-titled EP live in September 2023 at poppodium Nieuwe Nor in Heerlen, recorded with producer Ingo Jetten.
The band was nominated for the Limburgse Popprijs 2023 in the categories 'De belofte' and 'Beste Song', and signed a management deal with Marita Hamers.
