Marlon Pichel is a Rotterdam-based singing drummer and songwriter rooted in the southern soul and rock 'n' roll of the 1960s, drawing on Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett as his main touchstones. He grew up in a musical family with Dutch and Indonesian roots, first took the stage at age nine, and built his reputation as drummer with King of the World. After his debut album Good Ol' Loving (2023) and a sold-out first club tour, he signed with PDM - Danny Vera's label - and released his second album Took You to the Movies in 2026, recorded to the authentic Stax Records blueprint of the late sixties.
Marlon Pichel performed during the National Commemoration 15 August in The Hague, where he sang the song 'Aku jatuh cinta' together with the Royal Netherlands Air Force Orchestra - a song he always sang with his Indo-grandfather.
