Kjetil Nernes is the guitarist and frontman of Norwegian noise-rock band Årabrot, which he founded in Haugesund in 2001. The band won the Spellemannprisen (Norway's Grammy equivalent) for best metal album with Solar Anus (2011). After surviving throat cancer in 2014, Nernes returned with a rawer, more personal sound; he and fellow musician Karin Park live and work in a former church in Djura, Sweden, from which Årabrot released their tenth album Of Darkness and Light (Pelagic Records, 2023).

Årabrot released the tenth studio album Of Darkness and Light via Pelagic Records, recorded by Alain Johannes in the duo's church in Djura, Sweden.
