J. Cole (born Jermaine Lamarr Cole, January 28, 1985) is an American rapper, singer-songwriter and record producer who grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He broke through with his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story (2011) and has since become one of the most influential voices in contemporary hip-hop. Known for introspective lyricism and sharp social commentary, all seven of his studio albums have debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
