Fulu Miziki is a six-member collective from the Ngwaka neighbourhood of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, who build all their instruments, costumes and masks from recycled waste. The name translates from Lingala as 'music from garbage' - an accurate description of their explosive blend of Congolese soukous, punk and electronics, which they call 'twerkanda'. Since 2020 they have toured European festivals and run workshops for young people alongside their performances, carrying a message of ecological urgency and pan-African artistic liberation.
Fulu Miziki released the EP Fungola in June 2025 via the Marseille label Grosse Œuvre, with 'Tia Mungwa Na Biloko' as the lead single.
In 2025, the collective embarked on a European tour of 34 cities, from April to October.
Fulu Miziki performed in July 2025 at the Festival International Nuits d'Afrique in Montreal, where they completely filled Club Balattou.
The EP Mokano was released in 2024 via Moshi Moshi Records, as the successor to the debut Ngbaka from 2022.
