About

Eek-A-Mouse, born Ripton Joseph Hylton on 19 November 1957 in Kingston, Jamaica, is one of reggae's most distinctive voices. He rose to prominence in the early 1980s with a self-styled 'singjay' approach - blending singing, toasting and invented scat syllables - and breakthrough tracks like 'Wa Do Dem' and 'Modelling Queen'. Standing nearly two metres tall, he cuts an unmistakable figure on stage. Decades on, he remains active: 2025 and 2026 saw new singles and extensive European touring.
