DJ Krush
Japanese producer DJ Krush performs his signature blend of ambient, hip-hop and experimental beats at Melkweg.
DJ Krush, born Hideaki Ishii in Tokyo in 1962, is a Japanese producer and DJ who broke internationally in the 1990s through the London hip-hop label Mo'Wax. He is known for his dark, instrumental beats that blend hip-hop with jazz, soul and ambient textures - a sound he refined across albums such as Meiso (1995) and Jaku (2004), with collaborations including DJ Shadow and Guru. In 2024 he released Saisei, his first independent album in four years.
DJ Krush announces a European tour for October 2026, with performances in Amsterdam (Melkweg, October 10), Hamburg, Stockholm and Copenhagen, among others.
DJ Krush releases the album Saisei (再生) on February 21, 2024, his first independent release in four years following TRICKSTER (2020).
Saisei is released on February 21, 2024 as a CD and double-LP via DJ Krush Recordings, featuring guest contributions from Japanese rappers such as Jinmenusagi and Chinza Dopeness.
