Bence Huszar is a Hungarian cellist from a family of musicians - his grandfather was a composer and ethnomusicologist who studied under Zoltán Kodály, his grandmother an opera singer. After classical training at the Béla Bartók Conservatory and the Amsterdam Conservatory, he studied experimental cello techniques with Ernst Reijseger, developing a personal sound language that spans acoustic tradition and electronic texture. He is a core member of both Afro Anatolian Tales and the Amsterdam-based quartet ARIFA, led by percussionist Sjahin During, where he moves fluidly between melodic, accompanying and bass roles on the cello, layered with live electronics.
