About

Årabrot is a Norwegian noise rock band founded in 2001 by guitarist and vocalist Kjetil Nernes in Haugesund - the name refers to a rubbish dump in his hometown. The band navigates a dark terrain of post-punk, avant-garde metal and gothic rock, building a devoted following in the European underground. After Nernes survived throat cancer, the album The Gospel (2016) gave the band's music a rawer, more visceral charge. Today he and his wife, vocalist Karin Park, operate as a duo from a former church in rural Sweden; their tenth studio album Of Darkness and Light was released in 2023 on Pelagic Records.
