Abdelkader Benali is a Dutch author and columnist with Moroccan roots. He made his debut in 1996 with the novel Bruiloft aan zee (Wedding by the Sea), which brought him immediate recognition. Since then he has written novels, plays and essays, and is a well-known voice in Dutch public debate.
