The Wijthmenerplas is a recreational lake on the northern edge of Zwolle, with sandy beaches, woodland and open grassland around it. In summer it draws families and sports enthusiasts, and the site regularly hosts outdoor events such as festivals and swimming competitions. The water carries official bathing-water status.
