About the venue

The Volendams Museum charts the history of this former fishing village through traditional costumes, paintings and everyday objects. A highlight is the collection of cigar-band mosaics - intricate artworks assembled from hundreds of thousands of cigar bands, a craft that locals practised for generations. Together the exhibits paint a vivid picture of life on the old Zuiderzee.
