About the venue

Slot Loevestein is a medieval water castle built around 1368 at the confluence of the Waal and Maas rivers. It is best known as the prison from which Hugo de Groot famously escaped in 1621, hidden in a chest of books. Today it operates as a national museum dedicated to the castle's history and its most celebrated inmates.
