About the venue

The Nationaal Reddingmuseum Dorus Rijkers in Den Helder is dedicated to the history of sea rescue along the Dutch coast. It takes its name from Dorus Rijkers, a celebrated lifeboatman who saved dozens of shipwreck survivors in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The collection includes historic rescue vessels, equipment and personal accounts that bring the dangers of the work to life.
