The Montvales [US]

The Montvales is an American bluegrass duo in the tradition of Sierra Ferrell, I'm With Her, Ruth Moody and The Wailin' Jennys. Their new album, released in spring 2025 on Free Dirt Records - a label for lovers of radical country and folk - was produced by Mike Eli LoPinto, known for his work with Chris Stapleton.

Sally Buice and Molly Rochelson take listeners through diverse stories: from a woman protecting her community against a gas pipeline in "Plains of Ohio" to a devout grandmother traveling to Yugoslavia in search of the Virgin Mary in "Our Lady". The songs draw heavily from literature and address global tensions with depth and poetry.
