Kaja Draksler Solo

Slovenian pianist and composer Kaja Draksler presents her latest solo programme, exploring early jazz piano styles such as ragtime, boogie-woogie and stride piano, enriched with microtonality - an element that has featured in her earlier solo work.

In her solo concerts, she seeks ways to connect composition and improvisation, with attention to form, structure and timbre. Her clear, distinctive sound moves between the aesthetics of European improvised and contemporary music, with echoes of the traditional jazz and classical music in which she was trained. By bringing together different musical styles and periods, she develops her own expression and musical language.

Kaja Draksler is a Slovenian pianist and composer. In 2013, she released her debut solo album The Lives of Many Others on Clean Feed, which received critical acclaim from the international music press. Since then she has toured throughout Europe with a repertoire that continues to evolve. In 2021 came the live album Soothe My Soul, Feed My Thought on Idilyc Noise, and in 2022 her third solo album In Otherness Oneself on Unsounds.
