Playground: Cyanotype Workshop
Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week and OASE present this hands-on workshop led by Azerbaijani artist Gunay Rzazadeh and Iranian artist and OASE team member Yas Gholami. Together you will create cyanotype prints on deadstock textiles, vintage clothing and other natural materials - with Persian tea in between.
Cyanotype is an early photographic printing technique that uses UV light and light-sensitive material to create striking blue-white prints. By placing leaves, flowers or other found objects on the material, you capture their shapes and textures in deep blue.
During the workshop, Gunay and Yas share stories about the nature they grew up in - including the Hyrcanian forests of northern Iran, a biodiverse landscape increasingly under pressure from deforestation and climate change. For them, art is a way to pass on that knowledge and draw attention to changing landscapes.
Bring a vintage or long-forgotten 100% cotton T-shirt or garment, or at least 90% - the higher the cotton content, the better. You can also bring your own leaves, flowers or other natural materials; everything else will be provided on site.
