I Fall for the Wrong Men (try-out)

Theater De Generator presents tonight the try-out of "I Fall for the Wrong Men", a performance by Lisa Kim An Janssen and Juri Zanger. The official premiere follows on Saturday 28 November as part of the annual Stop Femicide evening that Theater De Generator organizes as part of Orange the World - the international campaign against violence against women.

The performance explores how myths, misconceptions and human psychology complicate efforts to prevent femicide and patriarchal violence. Janssen and Zanger examine men's structural responsibility: how guilt and shame work, what sustains the patriarchal system, and how to move from cancel culture to accountability culture. There is room for questions and thoughts still being developed.

Theater maker Juri Zanger is graduating this year from the Toneelacademie in Maastricht with the performance "Der Kämpfer", in which he investigates images of masculinity across generations from his own experiences with his father. For Stop Femicide, he creates, as part of Residencies of Necessity, a conversation performance together with Leiden men's discussion groups (including De Kleedkamer) and the national organization Emancipator.
