Albert Meijer

The unsuccessful cabaret duo Het Verdriet van Drenthe has disbanded. Tim and Albert went their separate ways - or rather: Tim died suddenly. So Albert now finds himself performing alone on stage out of necessity.

Albert Meijer (winner of both jury and audience prizes at the Amsterdam Student Cabaret Festival 2024) presents Tim in a Bag, an ode to idiosyncratic grieving. With songs and stories about death, loss, and the strange but persistent urge to make jokes about it, he poses questions like: what do you do when your best friend suddenly dies? What does a queer funeral look like? And how on earth do you choose a beautiful coffin?

Theaterkrant described Albert as "simultaneously disarmingly funny and immensely sad". Tim in a Bag works just as hard on your laugh muscles as on your tear ducts.
