Fancy Dress Party

Fancy Dress Party invites you to a concert of freely improvised musical conversations rooted in free jazz with a light theatrical touch. One thing must be clear from the start: "fancy dress" here does NOT mean a costume party - you are expected to dress smartly, and it would be quite embarrassing for everyone (including the musicians) if you showed up in full costume.

The evening coincides with the release of the group's debut album, "You're Cordially Invited". The album comes out digitally that day, but attendees will also have the chance to buy a vinyl pressing - in a striking yellow edition, with two bonus tracks available exclusively on this physical format.

Fancy Dress Party was formed in 2023 as a collaboration between Albert and Daniel, improvisers from the Dutch and Portuguese scenes respectively. In 2024, Anastasiya joined the duo as cellist, bringing the group to its current form. The name and concept emerged from a deliberate choice: by putting on a costume, the group discovered how differently the audience could relate to the same music.

The project is supported by Jam With Humans, the Amsterdam music collective founded in 2016 that focuses on teaching and performing inclusive contemporary music.
